Love affair...dog school 一匹と一人の間...

Just before setting off to the dog school...  There was certain intimacy between Sora & S.... At school she was her best so far and even got some praise from the teacher. ペロペロペロ。

Pre swim...? おそるおそる... その結果...

We had a picnic on the beach at Hatepe, a small settlement, about 25km south of Taupo this afternoon. Maybe only M had a peaceful picnic, as S was so busy with Sora.  He was walking her on the beach and even trying to teach her how to swim.  Although Sora loves running along the beach, she was very tentative to go into the water at start.  She managed to swim eventually (!?) about 1m from the shore. 今日はＨａｔｅｐｅでピクニック。　穏やかな春の陽気に誘われて、私達の他にもピクニックをする人、ビーチを歩く人、腰まで水につかって、鱒釣りをする人などさまざま。　風もなく、ソラの泳力を試すのに絶好の機会か？と思ったけど...　なんとか、足のつくとこまで投げた棒をとってくるのにとどまりました。

As a result, she's got a red colour neck (from her red collar).  S thinks she has got her best wash ever, though...ha ha ha. Poor Sora.   はっと、気が付いたら、ソラの首周りが薄っすら真っ赤。　赤い皮の首輪（カウンシルで買ったルマの一日お古）が、水に濡れて、色が染み出てしまったよう..

Growing up....車の窓から

When Sora first sat in the back seat of the car she couldn't even see out of the window. Now she is big enough poke her head out.　ソラが窓から顔を突き出しているのを初めて見た。　そういえば、ルマもよく気持ち良さそうに窓から顔を出していたっけ...ぐうぐうちゃん（家では目やにのことをこう呼ぶ）まみれになりながらも...　ソラもきっと味をしめたに違いない。　制限速度１００ｋエリアは駄目だからね...（車の燃費を考えて）

She's done it again, while we're eating dinner!! 今回の犠牲者はタイガー。　宴の後は、プラスチックボーンで一服？という感じで、罪の意識のないソラでした...　”もう、ぬいぐるみは買ってあげない”

Do you understand? おばかじゃないけど...？

What words does Sora understand? Perfectly - supper, lunch, dinner, etc. Pretty well - wait, down, sit, stay, etc. Still learning - come, quiet, no, stand! Japanese - oide and Sora, of course.　犬は、人間の言葉がわかるのではなく、何かと関連付けて反復学習しているのだというけど...なんだか、ソラの場合は”何か”が明白な感じ...私達が一番覚えて欲しい"come"
は、どうも気分次第で、困ったものです...

Sora's really getting into this...destructive mode towards her old friends these days..., she just wants to investigate what are they made of?...or she wants to try out how strong her back teeth are? 今、ソラのマイブーム...は、ぬいぐるみの中の綿を取り出すこと。　仕事は、速いです。　止める間もなく...巨大な（？）奥歯にものいわせてゴリゴリ。

Loves visitors... again... ぶーん、ぶーん、ぶーん、もっと！

Sora's enjoying tug-of -war, her favourite game with our visitor. She always loves visitors, but She was rather excited and her front legs were often not on the ground, to our embarrassment.  Thanks to A san, Sora loves you and she thinks you're great!   ソラはお客さまが大好き。　でも、時々（このとこしょっちゅうかも？）お行儀が悪くて、私達は、ちょっと辟易。　ジャンプ、ジャンプはやめて欲しいなぁ...　きっと、私達にうんざり？！してるのでは？　それにしても、ジャンプされても、いやな顔せず、遊んでくれたＡさん、ありがとう。

When out walking in the bush Sora is always moving, making it quite difficult to get any photos of her.　子犬はカメラにポーズはしません…一眼レフとかだと、逆になぁに、なぁに？と、カメラにマクロで近づいて来過ぎ！？

The stormy weather of earlier in the week has passed so we headed out to Opepe Bush for a walk. Sora had a great time. Her walking difficulties didn't seem to cause her any real problems.　タウポからＳＨ５をネイピア方面へ１５ｋｍほど行ったところにある、オペペの原生林を日曜の朝に歩きました。　先週始めの雪がまだ残っていたりして、林の中は、ちょっと薄暗く、肌寒く、前を行くソラの息が白くみえました。　ベルバードの声を聞き、ケレル（ＮＺ原生の鳩）の羽ばたきを聞き、それでも、自然は、徐々にはるへ向かっているよう。

What are you up to? 遊ぼ！！

German Shepherd is notorious for getting bored so easily.  Sora's no exception.  Her case could be worse, as a small (?) puppy.  The urge to play drives her most of the day.  Her favourite play is "tug-of-war. She even wants to play tug-of-war with her leash when walking!  That annoys us, especially M, who just wants to enjoy a peaceful walk.  We think that she might think M as her play mate and S is her master... ジャーマンシェパードは、すぐに退屈してしまう犬種です。だから、エナジェッティックで常に行動している人（→Ｓ）にぴったりの犬。　ただ、子犬の時は、”遊びたい”が先行し、それが主体なので、遊び相手も重要。　全てが遊び（食べる・寝るを除けば）中心...　ソラは、じょじょに散歩も楽しめるようになってきたけど、鼻先にあるリーシュを度々、口に運び、綱引きの紐とすることあり。　それがちょっと悩みの種...

Snow, sleet and hailstorm.. ! 初めての雪は？

We had first snows here in the town this morning, not only Sora but even S & M have never seen snow fall in the garden.  Sora looked a bit confused.  She wasn't in a playful mode at all.  She rather timidly joined S who was taking photos of the snow.  The snow didn't settle, but we had sleet and hailstorm, as well, today.  南極からの冷たい前線に覆われて、雪嵐がそこかしこ。　まさか、タウポの街にまで雪が降るとは思わなかったけど...ソラの反応は？？？なんだかわからない？って感じ。　庭に出したら、最初は、雪をさけて歩いてました。　くん、くんと雪の匂いは嗅いでいたけど、童謡にあるように、嬉しそうにかけまわったりはせず、すぐに、家の中へ...

Weekend nights もう眠くて眠くて...

Sora sometimes sleeps very suddenly. She can be happily chewing something and in a few seconds she is fast asleep. Last night she was chewing S's old T-shirt then fell asleep with it still in her mouth.　なんだか、やけに静かだなぁと思うと、眠ってることが多いのですが、週末は特にお疲れのよう？　じっとしてられないＳに付き合って、動き回っているせいか？　今日も、洗車が珍しかったようで、びしょびしょになりながら、ホースの先にへばりついたり、掃除機に吠えたり...

Full moon... 月とソラ

It's was full moon last night, but the sky wasn't dark yet, so no howl for little doggy? Normally, Sora has big bark and we're trying to under control it, but still it's difficult when it comes to other dogs.  ソラは、このところ少しうるさい。特に、ドッグスクールとか、散歩中に他の犬にあったりすると。　また、何か外で音がしたり（私達に聞こえないような音）すると、玄関先へすっとんでいって吠える。　番犬としてはいいのかなぁ...？　ただ、まだ、番犬には何歩も手前。　この写真を撮ったときも、フーディのかなり大きな、ちょっと怪しいお兄さんが外を通ったら、吠えるか？！と思ったら、家の中に逃げ込んでから、情けなく吠えました。トホホ。

Weekend forest walk....森を歩く

We have a bit more time at the weekend so sometimes take Sora walking in a nearby forest. She really enjoys the freedom to run around and do her own thing. And ignore us!　やはり、自然の中で、自分で自由に走れ回れるのが最高なんでしょうね。　車から飛び出て、ぴょんぴょんとどこまでも走っていっちゃいそう。　数ヶ月前は、私達のそばから離れずにいたけど、今はだいぶ自信があるのか、先頭をきって行くソラ。　帰るときの車に乗せるのが大変…車の周りを追いかけっこ…

Sniffing 春の香り

Sora's admiring (?) flowers of the dwarf iris; they've just started flowering.  She had been quite a gardener (i.e. digger or destroyer), but we think she's gradually learning how to behave in the garden.  She's still a bit nosy, though. Maybe, we're too optimistic? Anyway, it's nice to spend time pottering around the garden with her, when it's warm and sunny. そろそろ、春先の球根の花が、庭のあちこちで咲き始めました。　ここ数日、天気のいい日も続き（今日は、小雨が降りましたが）、ソラと一緒に庭に出て、冬でも元気な雑草や、湿った天気ではびこってしまった苔を取ったり。　ポトンポトンとあちこちに落ちている椿の花をひろったりしてると、冬も、もう一息かなぁ？と希望的観測。　

Like this... 空飛ぶソラ...？こんな風に寝る時も？

Last night, she was sleeping like this, after supper. Having attended the dog school last night, she must have been really tired, but she looked like running in her dreams?  楽しい！？ドッグスクールの後は、興奮しすぎていつもお疲れ。　色んな犬と会えて嬉しくて嬉しくて、吠えすぎたりもして、Ｓを不機嫌にさせてしまったりもするけど、少しは学んでいるのでしょうか？　昨日は、同じ６ヶ月のジャーマンシェパードの男の子（でかかったらしい？）にも会えたみたい。　お友達になれるといいね。

Happy (sleeping) feet..... パタパタパタ…

Sometimes when Sora sleeps all four feet and her tail are clustered in a small  space.　ソラに鈴はいりません。　歩き方のせいで、ソラが来るのがすぐにわかります。　大きな足でパタパタパタ…いつも気にせず一生懸命歩いてるから、お疲れか？お家にいる時は、よくお昼寝もします。…ちなみに今もお昼寝中。

Cousin Gus..... 優しい従兄弟…ガス

Today Sora visited her cousins - Daz, Stitch, and Gus. Here Gus is seen trying to get a little peace and quiet. Thanks Boys, we know Sora had a great time, hope she wasn't too much trouble.　今日は、雨の中、ワイマラーナ・ボーイズを久々に訪ねて来ました。　雨だったのでお家の中。　興奮状態のソラを辛抱強く相手をしてくれたのは、一番若いガス（2歳）。　ありがとうね！

At the cafe... またカフェです...

Last Sunday we had lunch at an organic food cafe in town. Sora quietly sat outside while we ate. A really good girl.　このカフェは外の席もゆったりしてて、人通りも比較的少ないので、ソラが来てからよく利用するようになりました。植物のプランターの間の日陰にちょこんとおさまって、そろそろおねむ？

Back from holiday.... 初お泊り

We had a couple of days in Auckland this week so Sora had two nights at the kennel, her first time overnighting there. Apparently she had a good time. It doesn't look as if she slept much while away as she was very tired here last night and slept three hours today. Nice to have you home Sora!　Mが久々のオークランドを楽しんでいる間、ソラはケンネルで２泊の初お泊り体験。（前に、日帰り体験はしてるのですが）”ソラの体の具合を気遣って、エクササイズタイムは、ラブラドールの伯父様達と一緒にしたけど、ちょっと退屈だったかも～？” よく面倒を見ていただいたようで感謝。　翌朝は早く起きたソラだけど、日中はお疲れの様子がみえみえでした。　やっぱり、お家が好き！
