Sora's holiday time..... ホリデータイム！Yeah

Sora looking especially cute. Its still Christmas  - New Year holiday so Sora is getting lots of attention, including a visit for some friend's children. She needs to get used to small people running round and making lots of noise!　犬親ばか？Gシェパードは耳がピンと立ってる時がかわいい。　季節がらの赤いバンダナはお気に入りのようです（というか、ソラは首に巻いてるものは体の一部と思うよう）　今日は、M家のキュートなお友達が3人、Yummyママと遊びに来てくれて嬉しいソラでした。　これこそホリデーです。

 We bought her a new, larger, ball. We thought it would be too big for her to carry, but she does it easily. これは、グレートデンサイズの犬のボール、 あごが外れるのではないかと思うけど、ソラは、キャッチもできます。

Hello puppy.... 挨拶されちゃった？

Sora went for a Christmas Day walk at the park. First she saw the indoor plant building and later the cage birds. Sora is usually very excited and chases birds in our garden, but she was interested in the birds today. The cokatoo can say "hello mate", but to Sora we are positive it said "hello puppy"!　クリスマスは、Sの両親の住むヘイスティングスで過ごしました。　クリスマスの朝は、コーンウオールパークという、クリケットのクラブルームがあり、噴水と池があり、ライオンの像があったりす、ちょっとイギリスの公園を彷彿とさせる公園へお散歩。　そこで、会ったのが、Ｃｏｃａｔｏｏという挨拶のできるオウム。　ソラが”ワンワン”と挨拶したら、”ハローパピー！”と挨拶してくれました。　最初は空耳か？と思ったけど、3回目には、これはマジ！？　す、すごい！

Sora's first Christmas.　ソラにとっての初めてのクリスマス。　M&Sからのクリスマスプレゼントはなかったけれど…（これは、Mのクリスマスプレゼントを見つめてます）、お友達のMindyから、大人の犬サイズのインサイドボーンをもらいました。

Sora - a working dog? 見習い警察犬…ではありません！？

As it was the last work day of the year today, and only a half day, S took Sora to work for the first time. She wasn't too happy being outside S's office and wanted to come in, sometimes through the open window!　今年の仕事納めは、ソラの初出勤日？となりました。　慣れるまでには、もう少しかかりそう。。。この窓の下には、消火用のホースがあるようで、今日は、最後の点検日を記したシールをペッロっとやってしまったらしいのですが…

Sora feels bad... 罪の意識？

Sora's peeping us through legs of the table, she's sort of hiding in the corner of the entrance.  She's more sensitive to other people's feeling these days, especially when people (M & S) are not happy about what she has done.  She usually just goes straight into her house when she senses or hears such unfavourable situation or tone of voice.  Incredible!  We haven't see. her put her tail between her legs yet, though.  ソラは、まずいことをした時には、たとえそれが少し前のできごとでも、そのことを話す、私達の声色を敏感に察知して、安全地帯に逃げ込みます。 犬は、罪の意識を感じたりする時に、よく尻尾を足の間に入れて、しょぼんと反省の色を見せますが、ソラについては、まだ目撃したことがありません。

Who's that? あれ、また新しいお友達...かな？

Sora is sometimes intrigued by her reflection.　たまぁに、鏡の中の自分の姿とか、夜、窓に映った自分の姿とかにハッとするソラでした。

Sora has some doggie friends but we are not sure about giraffe friends. Sora, please be friendly to everyone.　つい先日、日本から届いた小包に入っていた、ｎａｎｏブロックのキリン。　早速Ｓが、作ってみました。　久しぶりに、ブロック！集中！それにしても、ひとつひとつのブロックが小さいこと..　ソラは、遠い昔に、サファリシリーズと名づけられた群れの中にぬいぐるみのキリンのお友達がいましたが...

Contemplation....なに考えてるの？

Occasionally Sora is quiet enough that you can approach with a camera without being licked all over. Actually, that aspect of her personality seems to becoming quieter these days. It would be good if some other aspects quietened down too. Although she is, at the moment, fast asleep in the middle of the floor!　時々、物思いにふけっている？ソラ。　こんな表情をみると随分大人みたいなんだけど...まだまだ...

Relaxing after supper....ごろごろ...

Saturday evening, supper treat has been eaten and its time to relax.　”ああ、お腹もいっぱいだし、のんびりしましょうか？”　ってな感じのソラ。　もう、日が暮れたけど、昼間の暖かさが残っているよう。　窓ガラスは、きっと少し冷たくて、気持ちがいいのでしょうね？

Training ... sort of.... 日向ぼっこ？

Sora is lying by the gate learning to be quiet when people (and dogs) go by. S is sitting nearby doing this blog ready to praise when she does it right or scold when she does it wrong. People are not too hard, noisy children more difficult, cycles, skateboards, and scooters more difficult again, and of course other dogs the most difficult.　ソラが今習わねばならないことは、”静かに観察”すること。　　これが、また難しい...　Ｓが目を光らせている（といより、彼自体がのんびりと、外の空気を吸いながらＰＣをいじっているようです）中で。。。

Nice smell? 匂いを嗅いでいるのではありません！

Sora seems to enjoy licking people's exposed skin. Sometimes we are not sure if its such a good idea.　ソラは足の指でも、耳の後ろでも、膝の裏とか、はたまたちょっと出てしまった背中とかをぺろぺろ舐めるのが好きなようです...　別に汗をかいてるとか、におう（！？）とかに関わらず...

Up side down... ちょっと失礼！

It's officially the summer here.  Sora's showing her tummy, she's sort of in rapture, very relaxed and happy, indeed. １２月になると、いよいよ夏なのかなぁ？タウポはＮＺの街の中でも寒い（標高のせい）ので有名だけど...　確実に陽射しは強くなっているようです。　　毛皮を羽織ったソラ？にとっての初めての夏。　どうしのいでゆくのでしょう？　ソラ自体はいつものようにマイペース。

Pottering around... 庭でのんびり...

We finally have found the solution for dull brown fence back of our garden.   Just hanging a few flower baskets makes a big difference to it.  Sora was interested in them at first, sniffing  and trying to reach, but soon lost interest and just happily sitting  in the shade.  簡単なことなのに、なぜ今までしなかったのか？　ハンギングバスケットの効果は満点です。　SによるとSoraは最初興味津々で、あったよう...　ソラは、庭で、ゆっくり座ることもできるようになってきたよう？

 

Fluffy... ふわふわ...耳フェチ？

Sora's sleeping innocently, one of her ears are in side out.  ソラの耳の後ろの毛は、ヴェルヴェットのようにすべすべ。　珍しく、耳がひっくり返ったままで寝ているソラ。　カーペットよりもふわふわな耳毛。

Come! ...closer おいで！

Sora's getting better with "Come" command...except when she's outside、then we have to use low and harsh tone..."Come here!"it works well with her..despite the fact that most puppy training books said that you shouldn't use unpleasant voice with recalling,!? ソラは、自分が遊びたい時、食べ物に釣られて以外にも、やっとこさ、”ｃｏｍｅ！”のコマンドに従うようになってきました。　ちなみに、Ｓは、”おいで！”も使うので、ソラはバイリンガルです。　犬のトレーニングブックには、Ｃｏｍｅは、ハッピィな声でとありますが、ソラの場合は、厳しい、命令調のほうが効果があるようです。

Good heel! Wanna follow you always, but... 集中！して歩けたら...いいのにね。

There's a still lots of work  to be done for Sora's obedience, especially walking..  We want to see more bright days, Sora!　　ソラは、まだまだちゃんとヒールポジション（傍に沿って歩き身体が私達の膝より出ないポジションで常に歩く）では、歩けません。　気が散ってしまうことが多々。　雀に、スクーターに、プッシュバギーに、猫に、他の犬に...惑わされてしまう。

Why are you taking another picture? なんで？の顔...

To keep the blog up to date we need to take regular pictures of Sora, but sometimes she seems to question why we are taking another picture of her.　ついつい、寝てるときばかりになってしまうソラノ写真。　起きてる時は、なかなかポーズをとってくれない？　ＧＳはフォトジニックな犬ではないのかなぁ？

Sora's ordinary days....(i.e.lazy days..!?) ちょっとのんびり

She's sleeping like this sometimes during weekdays... especially after busy weekends and the day after the dog school.  Yeah, even a puppy needs rest.  ソラは、特に、お昼辺りは、このように、気持ち良さそうに寝ていることが多いです。週の始めとか、ドッグスクールの次の日とかかな？　

Brush time.... 毛玉

As summer is coming Sora is moulting a lot. In the past she hasn't been very comfortable getting brushed. We've been trying to brush her regularly as a team to get her more comfortable.　ソラは、ブラシに過剰反応気味。なので、ブラッシングする時は二人がかり。　お尻のあたりの毛が特に抜けるよう。。。ふわふわと白く綿毛のよう。　背中の下の毛はふわふわ薄茶色（セーブル？）。　まだ、子犬の毛なんだなぁ...

Cannot deliver parcel as you have a dog......ガードドッグ！？

The other day we got a note in the post. Our postie couldn't deliver a parcel as we had a dog. Sora was at home on her own and the postie was too scared to lean across and put the parcel in our mail box. This is pretty common. We had to go and pick up the parcel. S talked with the postie the next day. Apparently Sora sat there very quietly but the postie wanted to 'play it safe'. Just one of pleasures of having a dog!　　子犬（？）ソラを恐れた郵便屋さん。。。せっかく友達が送ってくれた小包が、郵便発送センターへ戻ってしまい、週越え。　クスン。クスン。...これで２回目。　今回は、本当にソラがいたけど、　前の時は、ソラを連れて出て、ゲートも開いていて、なのに”犬がいるので配達できない”のメッセージカード...信じられません...

Helping paws2? お手伝い？

Sora's really attentive, almost every thing really, but especially when we are doing things in the garden.  ありがとう。でも、大丈夫、ひとりでできるから...　え～、本当に？手も足も使えるし、口でもお手伝いできるんだけど...

Sometimes Sora wants you to play with her but won't give you the toy.　う～ん、遊びたいけど、あげたくない...ソラの日々のジレンマ。　

Redwoods track... また、赤杉の森へ

Resting on a track during this morning's exercise in the forest. Sora is usually so active when we are in the forest it's difficult to get her to stay still long enough to take her photo.　ソラは、やはりリードなしで、自由に動き回れる、森の散歩が大好き。　昔は、SとMの間っこを歩いてたけど、今は先頭をきって行きます。

After a busy day.... お昼寝は犬小屋で…

Sora woke at her usual 5.30 am this morning. She was out walking at  6 am (care of S rising early, as usual). After breakfast she had 10-15 mins dozing and then bothered the adults while they ate. Then out gardening for 2 hours, followed by a walk to the park. By this time she was getting a little tired - thankfully. She hasn't taken to sleeping in her kennel (we don't know why) but during the day she sometimes sleeps inside - as she is doing now. Cute!　　週末はいつも忙しい…S中心の生活。　普段の日のMとのペースとえらい違いです。　いつもだったら午前と午後にそれぞれ1時間から2時間ぐらい眠るんだけど、それがなかなかできないソラ。　しかし、ついにエネルギー切れ？　普段、夜に使ったためしのない犬小屋で。。。ぐっすりと眠れたかな？（実はほんの30分でした）　それにしても、お昼寝中の写真が多い…フォーカスがあわせやすいですものね。

Pooped! ふーッツ疲れたぁぁ…

Sora is just back from  two days at the kennel and is super tired. Lets hope she doesn't wake up at bed time!　あーー、子犬でもバテバテになるんですね…という感じに、ドッテっとお気に入りのマットの上で曝睡中。　多分、ソラは身体的には、大きくなってきたから、ケンネルでのエクササイズの時間は大人の犬達と一緒なのではと推測。　

One from last week....ちょっと古い写真ですが…

No new pics this week so here is one from last week - she still looks the same!  A nice walk round town this morning and later a visit to the Botanical Gardens. Sora is currently bored and looking to cause trouble!　そりゃ、変わってないよねぇ…9ヶ月くらいになると…一週間の差は小さい。　ソラはますます典型的なGシェパードの性格をあらわに…（すぐに退屈する）　どんなに、色んなアクティビティとか散歩とかに連れて行ってあげても、”何にも面倒見てくれないじゃん？。。。”みたいに、退屈そうな顔して私達を見つめる…どこかでみた風景。

After dog school... 放課後…

After dog school Sora gets tired and often goes to bed early. Poor S isn't always so lucky.　まず、ソラがスクールから帰ってからすることは、犬小屋に入ること…おかしいくらいに、ガレージから家に入ると直行。　夜食で誘うまでは、出てきません。（前のクラスで出来が悪くてSの機嫌を損ねてからのトラウマ？）　Sに聞いてみると（毎週おそるおそるです）、今日は、クラスの先生と一緒に、他の犬達にSTANDの見本をみせたとか？　”わぁー、すごいね”と、単純に喜ぶM。　でも、Sは、お疲れで昨夜はよく眠れなかったようです。

Sora watch... 注目！！

One of the commands we need Sora to learn is "watch". The idea is that if she is watching us then she is more likely to do what we tell her. Sora is often distracted by things going on around her which can make it difficult to get her to do as we say.　　子犬だから…散漫になってしまうのもしかたないとは思うのですが…

More from Opepe on Sunday. Sora found this stick and carried it for 5-10 minutes as we walked along the forest track.　ソラは、自分で木片を見つけ、引っこ抜き、口にくわえて運ぶのが好きなようです。　狭い道でも、私達が歩いてるのもなんのその、ボキボキボキっと進んでゆきます。　痛ったぁ…

Sora sit... お座りしてね…

"Sora sit! If you run around too much I can't get you in focus." Sunday morning walk at Opepe Bush.　今日は、この間と反対側のOpepeの森を歩きました。　Sは、ソラの写真を撮るのに一苦労。　”寝てる写真”が一番多いというのもわかります。　起きている時は、止まってなんかいられない…て感じ。

Kowhai....まだ～？

The kowhai tree is in full bloom at the moment. We managed to get Sora to pose among the fallen blossom this morning. We were returning from a long walk in town so she probably enjoyed the rest. Today is a holiday, NZ Labour Day, which is the reason for the long walk on what is normally a work day.　　ソラの目がソラの気持ちを語っているショット！？　朝食前の長～いお散歩は、クラクラ？　あと、５０ｍで我が家の匂いがするフォトストップでした。

Happy 30th kilogram Sora-chan..... わぉー本当に大きく（重く）なったんだね。

Sora has now reached a weight of 30 kg, just as she gets to 9 months old. We can probably expect her to grow until she is about one year old so she should get a little heavier.　色んな人に、”ソラちゃん大きくなったねぇ～”と言われると、”そうかなぁ？毎日見てるからわからない”と言ってたけど、実際に、ソラの体重を知ると...わぁ、、、という感じ。　子犬の時から、その足の大きさから、きっと大きくなるよと皆に言われ、そう思ってたけど...　ソラの足腰のために痩せ気味にするよう、食べ物の量を少なめにしてたので、そんなには、大きくならないだろうとたかをくくっていました。　成長しきると言われる１歳まで、まだ３ヶ月...　やはり、予測の３５ｋｇまで行くのでしょうか？！　ちなみにルマの平均体重は３０ｋｇでした。

Enjoying... ストリートアート鑑賞

Some new art work has been going up on walls in town this weekend. This morning Sora took a walk into town to take a look.　タウポの街の裏通りに、グラフィティ・アート出現。　Ｓ＆Ｓは、朝の散歩を兼ねて、実際にスプレーとかで絵を描いている様子を見てきたようです。　そう、グラ
フィティは、Ｓの好きな写真の題材のひとつ。　ソラはじょじょに待つことを学んでます。

Evening chew....あーーーん…

Most evenings Sora spends some time chewing on of her toys. Last night it was her large bone-shaped rope chew. By the time she had finished it was in two parts!　どんどんおもちゃが減ってゆく…

Smelling spring..... さらに春深まって…

As spring starts to take effect the garden is beginning to look quite colourful. Sora has been enjoying the opportunity to smell the flowers.　日に日に、庭が色づいてきてます。　気がつくと、あそこにもここにも、芽が出てたり、つぼみがふくらんでいたり、　花が咲いていたり…。　ソラのガーデニングスキルは少し上達。　ガブッとゆかないで、そっと香りをかぐにおさめることが出来るようになってきました。（希望的観測）

Hongi.... こんにちは…

Hongi is a Maori greeting and involves two people touching noses.　ウエットノーズとごっちん…あれ、鼻が低すぎる？！

Dozing during our dinner.... 半目開けてお休み中…

All the dog books tell you that you should eat first and the dog later. We've always done it the other way around. Sora eats first and she then gives us a quiet time while we eat. Tonight she was dozing just outside her house while we ate. Of course after we've eaten she always wakes up and then is active again until she crashes around 9 pm.　　ソラは、自分の食事に関する、聴力はかなり良いし、体内時計を持ってるようだし、私達の習慣とかも関連付けて覚えているっぽいのですが、幸い、私達の人間食に関しては、何も関連性を持っていないようで…お腹も満タン、スースーッと長閑にお休み中。　平和な時間を持続させるためにも、”絶対、ソラには人間の食べ物はあげません”が家のルールです。

Pee pee places.... あれぇ？何んだっけ？

When Sora does a pee pee on the grass it kills the grass and we get a dead patch. Today we tried to sow new grass in those patches. We'll have to wait and see how successful we are. We've started to encourage her to pee on the bark beneath the roses and not on the grass. We'll have to wait and see about that too....　冬の間は、ま、しょうがないかと思っていた、ソラのオシッコのせいで出来た芝生のはげパッチ？　そろそろ暖かくなってきたので、気になりだし、Sが芝の種を蒔きました。　それで、新たなソラのトイレットトレーニングの開始です。　庭の隅の芝のないところでするように仕向けたら、実は、数日後にはマスター。　すごいねソラ　（犬親馬鹿？！）

After sleepless night... 雷怖かった...なぁ...

We had a thunder storm last night,  it was sort of the first thunder...for Sora.  She took refuge in our bedroom.  She looked a bit tired this morning.... Today was also changeable weather till afternoon.  Sora was fascinated by the sudden change of weather, even heavy rain amused her?  春の嵐とでもいうのでしょうか？　春雷という言葉の響きは好きだけど、実際、夜中に寝床の中で聞くのは...　犬のソラにとっては、さらに雷の音は暴力的だっただろうなぁと思います。　よく眠れなかったのではと思わせる今朝のソラ。　そして、少しボーっとしてるソラにとって、突然のにわか雨はどんな風に映っているのでしょう？　ボーっと、遊んでいたボールを口にいれたまま、しばし庭を見つめるソラでした。
